No two heads of hair are exactly alike, and your color service shouldn’t be either. Your natural color, existing color history, hair condition, texture, lifestyle, and desired maintenance level can all influence the best approach.
Before beginning your service, your Artist will talk with you about what you’re hoping to achieve and help set realistic expectations for the process. Sometimes the desired result can be achieved in a single visit, while larger transformations may require multiple appointments to protect the condition of the hair. Our goal is to create color that complements your features, works with your lifestyle, and feels like you.

Base color is ideal for maintaining an existing all-over color, refreshing regrowth, blending or covering gray, or keeping your established shade looking consistent.
Our base color service covers up to approximately one inch of regrowth and includes one standard bowl of professional color. Additional product may be required depending on hair length, density, or the amount of color needed.
For guests who regularly color their hair, maintaining a consistent appointment schedule can help keep regrowth manageable and your overall color looking polished between visits.
Partial highlights add brightness and dimension to selected areas of the hair rather than throughout the entire head. They can be especially effective for brightening around the face, refreshing existing highlights, or creating subtle contrast without committing to a full highlighting service.
A partial highlight generally includes 11–30 foils and can be customized depending on your existing color and desired result.
Full highlights create dimension throughout the hair and are a great option for guests who want a more noticeable overall transformation. Strategic placement allows your Artist to create anything from soft, natural brightness to greater contrast throughout the hair.
The service includes one standard bowl of color, with additional product available when needed for longer, thicker, or more product-intensive hair.
If you’re unsure whether partial or full highlights are best for your goals, your Artist can help determine which approach will give you the look and maintenance schedule you want.
Some color goals require techniques beyond traditional foil highlights. Specialty color services such as balayage, babylights, dimensional blonding, and other customized applications allow our Artists to tailor placement, brightness, and blending to create a more individualized result.
Balayage is often chosen for its soft, blended appearance and ability to create natural-looking dimension. Babylights use very fine sections to produce delicate brightness and seamless transitions. Other specialty techniques may combine multiple methods to achieve a specific look.
Because these services vary considerably depending on your starting point and desired result, specialty color is offered following a phone, online, or in-person consultation and is priced according to the service required.
Corrective color is different from a standard color appointment. It is designed for situations where the existing hair color needs significant adjustment before the desired result can be achieved.
Corrective color may be appropriate when you are:
Most corrective color appointments require at least an online consultation, and some situations may require a complimentary in-person evaluation before the service is scheduled.
Corrective color can often take three hours or longer, and some transformations are best completed gradually over multiple appointments. The final cost varies based on the complexity of the correction, time involved, and amount of product required.
If you’re considering a major color change, our article on corrective color vs. highlighting can also help explain why these services require different approaches.
Beautiful color is only part of the goal. Maintaining the strength, moisture, and overall condition of your hair is equally important.
Nirvana incorporates professional conditioning and bond-supporting treatments into chemical services when appropriate. Our Acidic Bonding Concentrate in-salon treatment is used following chemical services to help rebalance moisture, add protein, restore the hair toward its natural pH, and support longer-lasting color.
Additional conditioning treatments are also available for guests who want to give dry, processed, or stressed hair extra care.
Your Artist can recommend the best treatment based on the condition of your hair and the color process being performed.
Your ideal maintenance schedule depends on the type of color service, how quickly your hair grows, and how noticeable you prefer your regrowth to be.
Root touch-ups and base color generally require more frequent appointments, while dimensional highlights and balayage may allow for longer periods between major services. Toners, conditioning treatments, or smaller refresh appointments can sometimes help maintain the look between full color services.
Your Artist can help you develop a realistic maintenance plan during your appointment, including recommendations for professional home-care products that can help protect your color between salon visits.
Consultation is especially important when you are considering corrective color, dramatic lightening, specialty color, or a major change from your existing shade.
Sharing your previous color history—including professional color, box dye, lightener, and other chemical services—helps your Artist choose the safest and most effective approach. Inspiration photos can also be helpful for communicating the tone, brightness, and overall look you have in mind.
Sometimes the best color plan involves more than one appointment. We would rather create a thoughtful path toward your goal than compromise the condition of your hair by trying to achieve too much at once.
Whether you’re looking for a simple root refresh, brighter highlights, dimensional balayage, or help correcting a complicated color history, Nirvana Salon & Wellness Spa offers personalized hair color services designed around your individual goals.
Our Artists take the time to understand what you want, evaluate what your hair needs, and create a color plan that balances beautiful results with healthy, manageable hair.
